Under Eye Bags

What are under eye bags?

Mild swelling or puffiness under the eyes is one of the many signs of aging. As we age, the tissues around the eyes including some of the muscles supporting the eyelids, weaken. The fat that helps support the eyes can then move into the lower eyelids causing visible under eye bags.

Causes

At times, fluid may accumulate in the space below the eyes adding to the swelling. Other factors that lead to under eye bags are-

Lack of sleep

Allergies

Smoking

Heavy alcohol intake

Genetic

Treatments

Reducing Under eye bags is a cosmetic concern. Usually, people try out at-home remedies to heal the bags formed under the eyes such as cool compresses etc. They help improve the appearance of the under eye bags. For bothersome under eye bags or puffiness, one can also opt for an eyelid surgery- Blepharoplasty.

However, if you wish to go for the non-invasive/ no-surgical treatment then you can opt for various Wrinkle Correction Treatments. These include laser resurfacing, chemical peels and fillers.

Procedures

Laser Resurfacing-This procedure tightens the lower and upper eyelid skin and reduced the appearance of dark under eye bags. The laser used in the treatment induces collagen production in the skin, therefore, removing the tired appearance of the under eyes.

Under Eye Fillers- It is an effective way to dispose of under eye bags. The FDA approved fillers/ soft tissue fillers are injected under the eye for a smooth texture and to provide volume below the under eye bags. As the fillers are made out of hyaluronic acid, it will disintegrate naturally in the body in 6- 9 months and you can decide to get the treatment done again after that.

Chemical Peels-Chemical peels are also done to treat under eye bags as it removes the old damaged skin and the stronger new skin grows in the treated area. Chemical peels are done under the supervision of a skin expert to remove dead and lifeless skin.

These treatments will not only improve the appearance of your under eye bags but also result in skin rejuvenation and skin tightening.
